Abstract

Surface treatment with liquid or semiliquid materials. - Relates to apparatus of the kind in which tar or other liquid or semi-liquid is delivered from a trough on to the road surface in a film in front of a squeegee, and consists in providing a special squeegee device in combination preferably with the tar-distributing device described in Specification 14910/14. Fig. 1 shows in plan the squeegee device mounted behind a pair of tarspreading trays E of the kind described in the above-mentioned Specification. The squeegee elements N, interlocked by pin-and-slot connexions R, S and chain P, have arms M pivotally connected to a plate L itself pivoted at K to a bracket J supported from the rear of a portable tar tank. The squeegee device may be inclined to right or left of the path of travel, and held by attaching one of the chains T to a pin U carried by a rearwardly extending arm V. If desired, additional squeegee elements W interlocked by plates 2 may be connected bv adjustable arms X to a transverse bar Z. The squeegee elements follow the contour of the road and may be loaded by weights inserted in pockets 4.
