Abstract
1,164,829. Diphenyl sulphone derivatives. TANABE SEIYAKU CO. Ltd. 24 Oct., 1966 [23 Oct., 1965; 11 July, 1966], No. 47638/66. Heading A5B. Toxoplasmosis in a farm or domestic animal is combated by the administration thereto of a diphenylsulphone having the general formula in which one of A and A<SP>1</SP> is an amino or a nitro group and the other is an amino or acetamido group and R is a hydrogen atom or a sulphamoyl group. An anti-toxoplasmic composition comprises a diphanylsulphone of the albove formula, 2,4-diamino 5 parachlorophenyl-6-ethyl pyrimidine (pyrimethamine) and a pharmaceutical carrier therefor. The compositions may be administered in animal feed or water, parenterally in the form of injectable suspensions and orally as tablets or powders. The compositions may contain other drags e.g. sulphonamides, antiseptics, anti-fungals, anti-histamines and antiinflammatories.
