Abstract

1,163,492. Securing upholstery. HOWARD S. COOKE & CO. Ltd. 10 April, 1968 [12 May, 1967], No. 22056/67. Heading A4M. [Also in Division E2] A spring clip comprises a strip of substantially constant thickness adapted to define a plate, and a curved hook-like projection 24 extending out of the general plane of the plate at one end of the latter, the plate being formed with an arcuate section rib 26 extending parallel to said projection, and an aperture 20 being formed in the plate and extending into said rib. The projection shown engaging the outside of a channel section bead 10 embraces a double-thickness of cloth folded over the edge of a sheet metal frame 12 of a vehicle seat, the frame having a prong 15 which passes through the aperture 20 in the slip and bent over to secure the clip in place. The rib 26 allows for some inaccuracy in the position of the prong in relation to the edge of the frame since it can flatten to take up such inaccuracy. The aperture 20 shown is substantially rectangular but with a widened portion to enable the prong to exert a wedging and locating action on the clip.
