Abstract

1,163,414. Pipe joints. INDUSTRIAL PRODUCTS PTY. Ltd. 16 Sept., 1966 [20 Sept., 1965], No. 41373/66. Heading F2G. Means for joining tubes 2, 3 and 4, Fig. 6 (not shown), which may be of plastic, copper or galvanized iron, to a hollow main member 1, such as end of an S trap, Fig. 7 (not shown), or other fitting, comprises a series of stepped sockets 5, 6 and 7 in the main member adapted each to receive one of the tubes, a resilient sealing ring 8 around the respective tube to be joined, and one of a set of sleeves 10, 11 or 12, which sleeve drawn axially towards the socket by a nut 13 to compress the sealing ring axially against the end of the fitting or the end of the next socket from that receiving the pipe thereby gripping the respective tube. By providing a set of sleeves, each corresponding to the outside diameter of the tube to fitted and to the next larger size socket to that receiving the tube, any one of the tubes 2, 3 or 4 may be coupled to the main member.
