Abstract

1,161,687. Cooling tower packings. INDUSTRIEPROJEKTIERUNG LEIPZIG. 5 Oct., 1966, No. 44463/66. Heading F4K. In a cooling tower packing arrangement comprising a plurality of spaced, vertical plates 1, the distance between each pair of adjacent plates is determined by a spacer member 2 having at least one dimension equal to the desired spacing of the plates and which in use engages both sides of one of the plates of the pair and extends over the top of said plate from one side thereof to the other. The transverse width of each spacer member may be such that when the latter is rotated through 90 degrees on a vertical axis, the said width dimension provides an alternative dimension for the plate spacing as shown by comparing Figs. 5 and 6. Fig. 3 shows a form of spacer providing contact with adjacent plates along vertically spaced coplanar areas.
