Abstract

1,160,423. Gloves. G. G. SCHUBERTH. 20 July, 1937 [20 April, 1966], No. 17342/66. Heading A3V. In the manufacture of a glove of heatsealable material a former 10 carrying tubular members 22-24 is inserted between layers 17, 18 of glove material which are then located between a pair of gloveshaped templates 1, 2. Longitudinal gaps 15, 16 in the former are offset from the gaps 7-9 between the fingers of the templates. The members 22-24 are then welded to the layers 17, 18 in a heat-sealing machine to form fourchettes. The fourchettes of adjacent fingers are severed by means of a punch having a cutting edge corresponding to the glove shape. In an alternative embodiment, Fig. 4 (not shown), the templates (28), (29) are hinged to each other, locating strips (40), (41) for the former (30) being mounted on the former (30) and template (28) respectively. The welding of the fourchettes can be effected by a pair of electrodes each mounted on a support co-operating means on the templates and the supports ensuring correct positioning of the electrodes.
