Abstract

1,158,139. Hair dressing composition. CLAIROL, Inc. 27 Oct., 1966 [23 Dec., 1965], No. 48319/66. Heading A5B. [Also in Division C4] A hairdressing composition, which conditions the hair and imparts gloss thereto, contains at least one dimethyl polysiloxane having a b.p.t. failing in the range of from 170‹C to 265‹C. The composition may also contain at least one dimethylpolysiloxane which has a boiling point of either below 170‹C. or above 265‹C. The dimethylpolysiloxanes may be linear or cyclic polymers, e.g. D 4 , M<SP>1</SP>D 2 M, M<SP>1</SP>D 3 M, D 5 , D 6 or M<SP>1</SP>D 4 M in which M<SP>1</SP> represents (CH 3 ) 3 SiO-; D represents -Si- (CH 3 ) 2 -O- and M represents-Si-(CH 3 ) 3 . The composition may contain from 2 to 25% by weight of the total composition of the dimethylpolysiloxane and be in the form of an aerosol, oil-in-water or water-in-oil emulsions (cream or lotion) or gell preparations. Other conventional components which may be present in the composition include perfume, lanolin or derivatives thereof, spreading agents, surfactants, conditioning agents and propellants.
