Abstract

1,157,387. Filter-drier. PARKER-HANNIFIN CORP. 5 Oct., 1967, No. 45513/67. Headings BID, B1L and B1T. A combined filter and drier, for use in a refrigerant circuit, comprises a hollow ceramic block filter element 18 which contains granules of synthetic zeolite, activated alumina or silica gel 17 which are compressed by a spring-loaded perforate plate 22. The whole is enclosed by a welded casing 11, 12 with inlet and' outlet fittings 13, 15, and element 18 is urged by spring 42 against shoulder 14, with glass fibre packing 28, 38 protecting the element against shock. A screen 19 is also included. In Fig. 1, plate 22 is slidable in element 18 and urged by a spring 24. but in Fig. 2 (not shown) a bowed, resilient perforate plate (52) acts as its own .spring.
