Abstract

1,155,805. Automatic exchange systems. STANDARD TELEPHONES & CABLES Ltd. 7 March, 1968, No. 11048/68. Heading H4K. In a time division multiplex telephone exchange in which each call is set up via a series of transistor gates, successive transistors used for a call are interconnected in alternating current manner by capacitors which are discharged by pulses applied between successive time slots. The Figure shows two cross-point transistors VT1 and VT2 in successive switching arrays. To establish a connection via these two transistors a pulse is applied to the base of each transistor causing them to conduct. An alternaing current path is thus established between them via a capacitor C1 Between successive connections a pulse is applied to the base of a transistor VT4 causing it and another transistor VT5 to conduct discharging the capacitor C1 and the inherent capacitance C2 of the line. The pulses applied to the bases of the transistors VT1 and VT2 are limited by busy indicator transistors VT3. Reflection attenuating resistances R2 and anti-parasitic beads B are included in the line.
