1,155,535. Seven-member ring compounds. H. M. R. HOFFMANN. 26 Feb., 1968 [10 March, 1967], No. 11342/67. Heading C2C. [Also in Division C5] 3 - Methyl - 3 - trichloroacetoxy - bicyclo- [3,21]-oct-6-ene is prepared by reacting methyl alkyl iodide in dichloromethane with a suspension of silver trichloroacetate in cyclopentadiene in liquid SO 2 at - 50‹ C. N - (3 - Methylbicyclo - [3,21] - oct - 6 - ene - 3- yl) acetamide is prepared by reacting 2-methylallyl iodide in dichloromethane with a suspension of silver tetrafluoroborate in cyclopentadiene, acetonitrile and dichloromethane at - 60‹ C. 2-(2<SP>1</SP>-Methylallyl)-furan is prepared reacting 2-methylallyl iodide in benzene with an icecooled suspension of silver trichloroacetate in furan and benzene.
