A method of treating a porous web comprises impregnating the web with an impregnant in liquid state and subsequently removing surplus impregnant by the passage of a stream of air through the web. The air stream is maintained at a temperature above the solidifying point of the impregnant. The steps of impregnating and removing surplus impregnant are preferably carried out in a closed apparatus.
