Abstract

1,155,313. Break-spinning apparatus; piecing. VYZKUMNY USTAV BAVLNARSKY. 1 Aug., 1966 [6 Sept., 1965], No. 34424/66. Heading D1D. In break-spinning apparatus comprising withdrawing rollers, one of which is a driving- roller and the other a pressure-roller, disposed between the discharge-outlet of the spinning chamber and a traverse drum of take-up means, and two open guides for guiding the yarn through the nipof the withdrawing- rollers, the arrangement is such that an imaginary plane extending from the outlet to the traverse-drum and tangential thereto, passes through the pressure-roller. The pressure-roller is provided on one lateral edge with at least one notch and one of the guides is disposed between the plane and the driveroller; by these features and the arrangement referred to, yarn unwound from the take-up means and returned to the outlet for piecing after a break, is automatically picked up by the notched roller and moved into the guides. The driven-roller 4 extends over a number of spinning stations, and there is one pressure roller at each station with a notch 10 on one lateral face. Before and after the withdrawing- rollers are guides 6 and 7 which are open in the sense that the yarn can readily engage them, the guide 6 being constituted by a groove in a rod common to a number of stations, and the guide 7 by a notch in a member with a rounded leading-edge 17. In normal operation, yarn is withdrawn from the outlet 1 of a spinning-chamber, travels through the guide 6 to the nip of the rollers 4, 5 and the guide 7 to a traverse-drum 2 by which the yarn is wound on a bobbin 3. A plane 11 is imagined to extend from the outlet 1 to the drum 2 meeting the latter tangentially between the reversal points between which the yarn is traversed. The lateral boundaries of the plane are defined by lines 14, 16; line 14 intersects the notched face of roller 5 and line 16 intersects the cylindrical part of the roller at its centre and at right angles to its axis of rotation. During spinning, if the yarn breaks the withdrawing-rollers are stopped by a stop-motion, and the free end of the yarn is wound up on bobbin 3. To repair the break, the bobbin is lifted off the drum and a length of yarn is unwound and placed near the outlet so that it is sucked into the collecting-surface of the still-rotating spinning chamber. When the bobbin is replaced winding restarts. The withdrawing- rollers are restarted and it follows that the yarn lies in the imaginary plane and oscillates between the lines 14, 16. When the yarn comes along the line 14, it is picked up by the notch 10 and is moved into the nip of the withdrawing-rollers and the guides 6, 7.
