Abstract
1,154,344. Radio-active sources. BANYASZATI KUTATO INTEZET. 25 May, 1966 [25 May, 1965], No. 23484/66. Heading G6R. A source of #-ray radiation comprises a baseplate carrying a layer of enamel containing a #-ray emitting radioisotope, the base-plate and enamel including no element of atomic number higher than silicon. The base-plate may be of corundum and the enamel may contain Li 2 O, B 2 O 3 , Na 2 O, MgO, Al 2 O 3 , SiO 2 , Na 2 SiF 6 and BeO. In an example, silica-containing frits are ground with clay, sodium silicofluoride, magnesium carbonate, and water, the mixture is applied to the base-plate and dried, an aqueous solution of Sr/Y-90 is added and dried, and the enamel is burnt in at 820-850‹ C. Alternatively the radio-isotope may be added to the ground mixture before applying to the base-plate. The source may also include colouring or luminescent material. Other radioisotopes referred to are Pm-147 and T1-204.
