Abstract

1,154,179. Welding by fusion. MUREX WELDING PROCESSES Ltd. 25 Jan., 1968 [9 Feb., 1967], No. 3951/68. Heading B3R. [Also in Division C7] In depositing creep resistant steel by submerged arc welding using a continuous electrode, the electrode is in the form of a mild steel sheath enclosing a core constituting 30-40% by weight of the electrode and having the following composition 2-51 % chromium 1À5-5% ferro-molybdenum (e.g. 65-75% Mo, 0-2% Al, 0-2% Si, balance Fe) 0-2% ferro-silicon (e.g. 40-50% Si. 0-2% Al, balance Fe) 0-2À5% ferro-vanadium (e.g. 50-60% V, 0-2% Al, balance Fe) 0-1À5% ferro-manganese (e.g. 75-80% Mn, 6-7% C, balance Fe) balance iron powder and the submerged arc flux is as follows 10-39% MnO 2 35-47% SiO 2 5-40% CaO 4-15% CaF 2 0-5% Al 2 O 3 Low carbon ferro-manganese may be used. Steel weld deposits so produced contain in percentages by weight
