Abstract

1,153,440. Inverters. SOC. GENERALE DE CONSTRUCTIONS ELECTRIQUES ET MECANIQUES (ALSTHOM). 14 Sept., 1966 [14 Sept., 1965], No. 41137/66. Heading H2F. An inverter comprises a bridge of controlled rectifiers 1 with the D.C. input 7 and an inductor 9 which may constitute the load connected in series across one diagonal, and a capacitor 10 connected across the other diagonal, the capacitor 10 and inductance 9 constituting a series resonant circuit. In a first modification, Fig. 4 (not shown), two similar bridge circuits are connected in series across the D.C. source, and the inductive load is connected between the junction of the two bridges and a centre tap on the supply. In a second modification, Fig. 7 (not shown), two bridges are connected in parallel. These two modifications may be incorporated into a single circuit, Fig. 9 (not shown). In a further modification, Fig. 6 (not shown), four rectifier bridges are arranged in a further bridge configuration with the D.C. input applied across one pair of diagonals, and the load inductance connected across the other pair. A saturable inductor 11 is preferably included in series with the capacitor 10, and the load 9 and capacitor 10 may be coupled into the circuit via transformers.
