Abstract
1,152,974. Preparing samples for spectroscopic examination. COMMISSARIAT A L'ENERGIE ATOMIQUE. March 30, 1967 [March 30, 1966], No. 14649/67. Heading G2J. To prepare a thin specimen 5, Fig. 3 having a large specific surface, for use in absorption micro-spectrophotometry for studying chemical adsorption, corrosion, catalysis, solid decomposition kinetics, action of a liquid on a solid or other modifications to a solid substance, the solid in powder form is compressed within a passage extending between opposite faces of a metal strip 1. The strip 1 may then be clamped between a pair of cylinders 6, 7, which are closed by windows 10, 11, and to which gases can be admitted via valve 12 and apertures 8, 9.
