[Also Division C3] A cellulose acetate-butyrate having a composition within the shaded area A of the figure and an I.V. of less than 0.4; or within areas A and B and an I.V. of less than 0.3; or within areas A, B and C and an I.V. of less than 0.2 is incorporated into a lacquer in solution in toluene, together with, e.g. a phenol and/or alkyd resin or a thermosetting acrylic resin, and then coated onto a flexible substrate, e.g. of electrostatically treated polyethylene or polypropylene, polyester, cellulose acetate-butyrate, plasticized PVC, or regenerated cellulose which optionally carries a polyvinylidene chloride surface layer; or to metal automobile bodies, e.g. by spraying, immersing or flowing.
