Abstract
1,152,214. Wells &c. BAKER OIL TOOLS, Inc. 6 Sept., 1966 [21 Sept., 1965], No. 39765/66. Heading E1F. Apparatus for producing from zones A, B, C . . . (Fig. 1) comprises production tubing D, packers R, S, T . . . separating the zones, and a flow regulator 12, 12a, 12b . . . in the tubing at each zone to pass fluid from the associated zone to the interior of the tubing, each regulator including a flow restrictor 14 to reduce the pressure of the fluid flowing from the associated zone. Opposite each zone the tubing has a port 10 closed by a valve sleeve 21 held in its closed position by latches 30 (Fig. 3a). The sleeve is moved to the open position shown in Figs. 3a, 3b by a flow regulator which has dogs 40, 48. When moved to its open position the sleeve is connected to the regulator by the latches and the regulator is connected to the tubing by the dogs so that the sleeve is held in its open position. With a sleeve 21 in its open position, fluid from the associated zone passes through perforations M and ports 10, 57 into passage 58 in a regulator port 54, and then past non-return valve 13 through ports 78 of regulator valve 69, orifice 14, and ports 62 into the tubing. Regulator valve 69 moves against spring 72 to control the ports 62 and maintains a constant pressure differential across orifice 14. Initially the packers are set about the tubing and the sleeves 21 are closed. A regulator is run into the lower sleeve 21 on a tool (100). After locking the regulator to the tubing and setting the sleeve to its open position, the tool is removed and the other regulators are positioned in the tubing in turn. Starting with the upper one the regulators are removed by a fishing tool from the tubing and during this removal the respective sleeves are set to their closed positions.
