Abstract
1,152,183. Training climbing plants. GUINNESS HOP FARMS Ltd. 5 July, 1966 [16 July, 1965], No. 30273/65. Heading A1E. A device for the self-training of climbing plants, particularly hops, comprises an outer enclosing screen 1 subdivided by partitions 4 to form a number of channels 5-8 through which bine guides 11 can extend, the device being placed over a plant so that the bine-shoots are directed substantially evenly into the channels. The screen may be cylindrical, frusto-conical or frusto-pyramidal in shape and of solid, perforated or mesh-like construction. The edges of the screen in contact with the soil may be concave to accommodate 'hop hills', and provided with legs for anchoring the device in the soil. The bine guides 11 are secured to a picket 10 located with the cut-away portion 9 of the partitions 4.
