Abstract

1,152,177. Artificial dentures. H. HANNES. 20 June, 1966 [28 June, 1965], No. 27427/66. Heading A5R. An artificial denture 1 incorporates at least one retaining device for holding the denture to an adjacent natural tooth 2, the device (see also Figure 2, not shown) consisting of a tubular casing (7) embedded in the side of an end tooth of the denture, an inwardly directed flange (10) being provided at one open end of the casing and a plunger 6, which has one end hemi-spherical and its other end formed with an outwardly directed flange (11), being spring-urged to protrude from the casing so that in its fully protruding position the outwardly directed flange engages with the inwardly directed flange on the casing, and there being a socket 5 formed with a part-spherical depression engageable by the hemi-spherical end of the plunger and arranged to be fastened to the natural tooth 2. The device and socket may be of a metal or a plastics material, and two devices and sockets may be provided, one at each end of the denture. '
