Abstract
1,152,039. Resonance cells. CSF-COMPAGNIE GENERALE DE TELEGRAPHIE SANS FIL. 11 July, 1966 [22 July, 1965], No. 31120/66. Heading G6P. In an absorption or resonance cell, for an optical pumping device, e.g. in an atomic clock, the resonance line is adjustable by means of a deformable section of the cell wall. The cell 1, contains an alkali vapour and a buffer gas and the internal pressure, and therefore the frequency, is adjusted by compressing the bulb 2 between the jaws 6. In an alternative form, the bulb 2 is in the form of a bellows adjusted by a micrometer screw.
