Abstract

[Also in Division E2] A folding bed or chair (not shown) has its back-rest portion adjustably hinged to the body supporting or seat portion by a self-locking adjustable hinge (see Division E2). The leg members of the bed or chair each comprise two semicircular section pressings arranged face to face, having at their ends plate members with holes which register with each other and with the hole 17 in the lobe 16 on the first joint member with the plate members embracing this lobe; the leg is then pivotably connected to the lobe by a bolt or rivet through the registering holes. The ends of these plate members are so shaped that they engage and lock with the periphery of the circular plates 23 on the second joint member when the back-rest portion is extended. When the back-rest is folded parallel to the body supporting portion, the concave recess 25 in the plates 23 comes opposite the end plate members of the leg which is thereby unlocked and may be folded up to be similarly parallel with the body supporting portion.
