Abstract
1,149,944. Coatings for nails and screws. EURO-PROGRAM-ETABS. 12 July, 1966 [14 July, 1965], No. 31164/66. Heading F2H. [Also in Division B2] A fastening element which in use is driven with or without rotation into a solid material such as wood has applied thereto a low friction coating of an aqueous suspension of polytetrafluoroethylene and a low melting thermoplastic material, high melting wax, silicone oil or a high-molecular weight polyether, which has been subsequently baked at between 140 and 330‹ C. The coating may be in the form of non-sintered particles of polytetrafluoroethylene, which are bonded by the low melting thermoplastic material. The components of the coating may be applied to an aqueous suspension by dipping, pouring or spraying. An exemplified thermoplastic material is a copolymer of ethylene and acrylic acid which contains free carboxyl groups.
