Abstract

1,149,621. Statistical apparatus. ANKERWERKE A.G. 22 April, 1966 [23 April, 1965], No. 17765/66. Heading G4M. A magnetic account card processing machine comprising a read/record station 1047, a printing station 1075 and a sorting station is controlled by separate data processing apparatus. Cards 1006 or 1007 are fed, on command, from one or other of stacks 1004, 1005 by pivoted rollers 1021, 1042. Alternatively cards may be inserted manually at 1365. A deflector 1074 is associated with drum 1049 so that a card may make several read/record passes before being released on command of the D.P.A. An endless belt 1127 having lugs 1131, 1132 positions a card with a selected line in registration with a rotating type cylinder, belt 1127 being driven until a counter which is preset by a command from the D.P.A. is counted down to a datum position by pulses from a photo-cell and toothed disc associated with the belt drive. When the card has been so positioned, information supplied from a printer store is printed on the selected line of the card. After printing, the card is sorted in accordance with a command from the D.P.A. which is stored in bi-stable circuits. Transmission of commands from the D.P.A. is co-ordinated with the position of cards in the machine by means of photo-cells.
