Abstract

1,148,146. Transistor monostable circuits. STARKSTROM-ANLAGENBAU ERFURT VEB. 12 July, 1967, No. 32107/67. Heading H3T. A monostable multivibrator comprises a pair of cross-coupled transistors 1, 3 and a timing circuit connected to the output electrode of transistor 1; the timing circuit including a capacitor 2, means 9 for presetting the duration of an output pulse, and temperature compensation means for maintaining the preset pulse duration by controlling the charge stored on capacitor 2 during the stable period of the multivibrator. In the stable state, transistor 1 is non-conductive, transistor 3 is conductive and capacitor 2 is charged in the circuit 12, 14, 2, 10, 11. A negative input signal at E to transistor 1 triggers the circuit, cutting off diode 10 and transistor 3 and switching on transistor 1. Capacitor 2 then discharges through the path 8, 9, 2 and transistor 1 to deliver a negative pulse at A, until diode 10 again becomes conductive so that the circuit returns to its stable state. The pulse duration is controlled by adjustable resistor 9. A negative temperature coefficient resistor 16 controls the conductivity of transistor 17 and hence the potential at the junction of capacitor 2 and resistor 14 and to which capacitor 2 charges during the stable period. Zener diode 13 stabilizes this potential against source potential variations. Potentiometer 14 permits adjustment of the temperature compensation to provide optimum conditions, or for compensating for temperature variations in preceding or succeeding circuitry, so that the duration of the pulse at the output of the overall system is maintained.
