Abstract

1,147,648. Automatic speed control. ASSOCIATED ELECTRICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd. July 13, 1966 [Aug.11, 1965], No.34386/65. Heading G3R. [Also in Division H2] Winding drums are separately driven by motors 2, 2', supplied by generators 3, 3', which are adapted to operate as motors for braking the drums. The generator field windings 4, 4' are supplied from power amplifiers 5, 5', whose inputs are derived through pre-amplifiers 6, 6', from master unit 7. The latter receives a common command signal through ramp function circuit 9. Tachometer generators 10, 10', are coupled to the motors to supply feedback signals to mixing circuits in the unit 7 whereby each of the drives is controlled individually in accordance with the command signal. Selsyns 11, 11' are coupled to the motors and their outputs are applied to a phase-sensitive circuit 12 which feeds a signal to the unit 7 so as to maintain a predetermined phase relationship between the motors.
