1,146,887. Cutting tools. F. SIROLA. 12 Aug., 1966, No. 36296/66. Heading B3B. A cutting tool comprises a shank having an insert receiving recess at one end with a non- circular bore 20 extending obliquely to the base 16 of the recess, a complementary locking pin 22 engageable in the bore 20, the pin having an angled portion at one end of reduced crosssection which extends normal to the base of the recess and into a bore in the insert, a screw member 28 being provided to slide the pin 22 within the bore 20 whereby the insert engaging portion 24 of the pin clamps the insert in the recess. The screw member may threadably engage the pin from within a counter bore 34 on the opposite side of the shank from the recess or alternatively, the screw may engage a threaded bore in the shank and the head 40 of the screw engage a notch 42 provided in the pin.
