In a curtain walling construction having a vertical column of mullions, 18 16 joined together and horizontal members 20 for retaining and supporting wall panels 12, 12', the members 20 are of channel form and the mullions have a recess 16m, 18m which receives the end of a member 20 spaced from the mullion and slidably engaging the flanges 16n, 16p of the recess to restrain the member from forward or backward movement, the end of the member 20 being supported on pins 26 or pressed out tongues (Fig. 7) and prevented from upward movement by pin 28 or pressed out tongue (Fig. 7), these pins 26, 28 being driven into apertures in the mullion, and the member 20 sliding thereover in case of expansion and contraction, the adjacent mullions 16, 18 in a column have their adjacent ends spaced and relatively slidable over an internal sleeve 50 fixed to the lower end of the upper mullion 18 and slidably engaging the upper end of the lower mullion 16 to allow for expansion and contraction. The space between the mullions is sealed by a sealing element 52 secured by rivets 52a to the upper mullion 18 and slidably engaging the lower mullion 16, and prevents water leakage into the building from channel recesses 16k, 16m and 18k and 18m. A portion of the bottom end of the upper mullion 18 is notched to provide an abrupt change in the slope of that end to function as a water drip, the water dripping on to the sloping surface 16z at the top end of mullion 16 and on to the top of reinforcing sheet 16c to drain through the mullion spaces 16e 16f strip elastomeric seals retain the panels in the framework, 16, 18, 20.
