Abstract

1,144,457. Radio wave absorbers. SIEMENS A.G. 28 July, 1966 [29 July, 1965], No. 33906/66. Heading H4A. An absorber element for radio waves is in the form of a hollow pyramid made from four pointed plates of solid foamed insulating material, such as polystyrene, assembled together and coated either outside or outside and inside with an electrically conductive varnish, such as one containing particles of graphite. A number of elements may be placed together with their bases on a flat surface to make up an attenuator unit. Preferred dimensions for the pointed plates are: heights from 3À0 to 0À5 metres; base widths from 60 to 8 cms.; thicknesses from 2À5 to 0À5 cm. The four plates of an element may be assembled with their edges butted or overlapped, or the edges may be mitred. Coating with varnish may be effected by dipping or spraying.
