Abstract

1,143,876. Stabilizing vinylidene chloride polymers. IMPERIAL CHEMICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd. 7 Feb., 1968 [28 Feb., 1967], No. 9498/67. Heading C3P. Polymers of vinylidene chloride are stabilized by the addition of (a) a pyrophosphate of an alkali or alkaline earth metal e.g. sodium, potassium or magnesium or compound yielding such on heating, e.g. a hydrogen phosphate and (b) a polyhydric alcohol having at least three carbons. The polymer is a homopolymer or a copolymer, e.g. with vinyl chloride. Specified alcohols are glycerol, mannitol, D-sorbitol, pentaerythritol, di-pentaerythritol, glucose and diethylene glycol.
