A device for stripping wallpaper comprises a metal plate 5 to which a metal handle 6 is secured, the plate having punched-out spiked projections 13. In a modification, a body of sheet steel, preferably tin plated, comprises a steel sheet having punched therefrom projections of approximately triangular shape having spiked ends, the periphery of the steel sheet having welded thereto a steel band, the edges of which remote from the steel sheet are shaped to provide a lip.
