A safety razor comprising a blade support platform which defines a shaving zone for receiving and supporting a shaving length of blade in shaving position with a sharpened edge of the blade projecting beyond the front edge of the support platform, and a blade guard extending in generally parallel spaced relation to and disposed forwardly of the front edge of the support platform, is characterized in that a hinge consisting of a web element formed integrally with the blade guard secures the blade guard to the support platform, the hinge defining an axis parallel to the guard, and an adjusting portion extends beneath the support platform for co-operation with an adjusting device mounted on the razor to move the guard relative to the support platform about the hinge axis for adjusting the guard with respect to the sharpened edge of the blade. In the razor shown in Fig. 2, which comprises a holder 10 and a magazine 12, the blade 22 is supported by a platform 24 to which is hinged, by means of a web 72, a guard 68 from which extends a lever 80 having projecting therefrom a stud 82 engaging a cam groove 180, Fig. 5, in a rotatable camming member 160 disposed in an aperture 150 in the magazine base 18, the aperture 150 having a plurality of positioning notches 152. The reverse surface of the member 160 is provided numbers (190), Fig. 1 (not shown), the number visible through an aperture (192) providing an indication of the adjusted position of the guard surface 70. The web 72 is provided with spaced ribs (76), Fig. 3 (not shown) and with slots (78) to allow shaving waste to be removed. The razor has a blade advancing lever 120 and a latch 130. In a modification, the member 160 is replaced by an actuator 310, Fig. 11, and follower plate 312, a locating element 300 being accommodated in a recess when the magazine 12<SP>1</SP> is latched in a holder 10<SP>1</SP>. The actuator has on its rear surface an offset circular cam element (334), Figs. 17 and 18 (not shown). The handle 328, Fig. 10, of the actuator has on its rear surface a projection 330 which engages one of a series of recesses 332 in the cover 16<SP>1</SP>. In another modification, an actuator 400, Fig. 20, is secured between the holder head 100<SP>1</SP> and magazine locating element 300<SP>1</SP>, and co-operates with a guide plate 312<SP>1</SP> forming part of the magazine 12<SP>11</SP>. The actuator has a cam surface 408. in a further modification, a magazine to be mounted in the holder of Fig. 2, comprises an adjusting lever 520, Fig. 24, having a cam surface 640, Fig. 32, comprising parts 642, 644, Fig. 34, each of which is composed of two arcs 646, 648 which engage corresponding arcs 600, 602, Fig. 29, of an aperture 534 in a guide plate 532 disposed in a recess in the back member 556 of the magazine. The blade support platform 500, hinge web 552 and blade guard 554 are moulded integrally with the member 556. The lever 520 has a latch structure 660, Fig. 32. The handle 522 of the lever 520 is movable into one of a plurality of detent grooves (524), Fig. 22 (not shown). Behind an aperture 526, Fig. 24, is an indicator disc 528 which is advanced as the arbor 512 is rotated to indicate the number of lengths of shaving blade remaining for use.
