Abstract

1,143,146. Breast pads. UNITED CELLULAR PRODUCTS CORP. 7 Nov., 1967, No. 50590/67. Heading A3V. A method of making a breast pad includes making a radial cut in each of two circular blanks (which may be formed by splitting a blank of non-woven fibrous material), coating the blanks with a thermoplastic resin bonding agent of acrylic or p.v.c. type, twisting each blank to form a cone 15 or 16 in which the edges of the cut are disposed at 180 degrees to each other so that half the cone is of single and half of double thickness material and superimposing one cone on the other to form a composite blank having three thicknesses of material across substantially its entire area. The composite blank is moulded by heat and pressure to the desired shape, the bonding agent which softens during the moulding hardening subsequently to fix the shape. The radial cuts form bevelled edges 13a and b, 14a and b which may be carded after the cones have been formed to avoid the formation of ridges.
