An insecticidal composition comprises a Lobelia alkaloid and/or an acid addition salt thereof, and piperonyl butoxide as synergist therefor. The alkaloid may be lobeline, lobelanine or lobelanidine, or a mixture obtained by solvent extraction of a Lobelia plant.
