Abstract

1,142,848. Gyroscopic apparatus. S.G. BROWN Ltd. and D. BARNETT. Feb. 23, 1966 [Feb.24, 1965], No.38138/68. Divided out of 1, 142, 846. Heading G1C. A gyro-rotor assembly 300 comprises an outer rotor member 302, an intermediate gimbal member 304 and an inner mounting member 306 and first and second pairs of flexural spring pivots connecting the members 302, 304 and 304, 306, the pivots of each pair being aligned along an axis perpendicular to that for the other pair, each pivot being in the fan of four spring strips 308 spaced apart in cruciform arrangement around its axis, the pivots and the members being integral in the sense that the whole assembly is made from a single piece of material. In an alternative embodiment each flexural pivot comprises two orthogonal crossed-leaf spring members each disposed at 45 degrees to the plane containing the rotor, gimbal and mounting members.
