Abstract

1,142,400. Transistor relay operating circuits; telephone exchanges. SIEMENS A.G. 11 Aug., 1967 [12 Aug., 1966], No. 36984/67. Headings H3T and H4K. A circuit for energizing the operate or release winding RKA of a relay via a path including a contact 1KA of the relay which is initially made, comprises a capacitor C1 which is charged via a rectifier G11 when a voltage U is applied to the circuit and an electronic switch T1 which, when the voltage is removed or reduced, is rendered conductive by the voltage across the rectifier and discharges the capacitor through the relay winding. Thus, in the circuit shown, when U is removed, the capacitor begins to discharge through the emitter-base path of transistor T1 making the collector-emitter path conducting. C1 thus discharges through the relay coil to operate or release the relay independently of its contacts 1KA, 2KA. The arrangement is said to be suitable for party line connections using latching relays, or in the conversion of three wire circuits to two-wire. A single release coil may serve for a number of relays.
