Abstract

114,164. Baufre, W. L. de. Oct. 24, 1916. Priming, preventing.-In evaporators in which the vapours are compressed, and used for heating the liquid, the vapours are freed from particles of liquid by means of a separator comprising apertured members 30 which impart a tortuous path to the vapours, in combination with means for preventing the liquid from splashing into the separator. The members 30 consist of a number of concentric drums formed with vertical slits or other openings in staggered relationship. The liquid collects in a pan 29 fitted with a return pipe 28. A splash guard 31 surrounds the separator, and immersed baffles 27 prevent the projection of boiling liquid into the vapour space.
