Abstract

1,140,536. Cosmetics. DOW CORNING CORP. 28 Feb., 1966 [29 March, 1965], No. 8709/66. Heading A5B [Also in Division C3] A cosmetic composition comprises (1) a cosmetic solvent, (2) a colouring agent, and (3) a wax of which at least 15% (by weight) is a silicone wax which is (A) a certain organosiloxane block copolymer, (B) a polysiloxane or poly-siloxane-silcarbane containing terminal Si-bonded C a H 2a+1 radicals, where a is 18 to 75, (C) a silicone-carnauba wax copolymer, (D) a copolymer consisting of Me 3 SiO 0À5 , Me e SiO 4-e/2 and R c Me d SiO 4-c-d/2 units, where R is an alkyl radical of 16 to 26 C atoms, e = 1.98 to 2.0, c and d are each 0, 1 or 2 and in the siloxane have an average value of 0.95- to 1.05, and c + d = 1.98 to 2.0, and (E) certain siloxane silphenylene copolymers. Lip colouring compositions comprise, by weight, 10 to 50% of (1), 2 to 25% of (2) and 2 to 70% of (3). Organic waxes specified are beeswax, paraffin wax, carnauber wax, ceresine, coca butter, ozokerite, candelilla, spermaceti, hydrogenated castor and palm kernel oils, montan, microcrystalline waxes, lanolin alcohols and waxes from the Fischer-Tropsch synthesis. Numerous examples of cosmetic solvents and colouring agents are given. Flavours and/or perfumes may also be added. In a typical Example (1) a lipstick was made by melting and mixing a siloxane carnauber wax copolymer, a liquid dimethylpolysiloxane, cetyl alcohol, isopropyl myristate and a red dye, until a homogeneous mixture resulted, and the mixture was then poured into a mould and cooled. Uses: for making a lipstick rouge, chapstick, eyebrow stick, mascara, epilating wax, solid perfume and styptic crayon.
