Abstract
1,140,284. Forage harvesters. LANDBRUKSTEKNISK INSTITUTT. 24 Dec., 1966, No. 57859/66. Heading A1F. [Also in Division A4] A forage-harvester comprises a pair of cutting discs 9 contra-rotating in a substantially horizontal plane and feeding crop rearwardly between a serrated feedroller 15 and a base-plate 16 of the machine, the roller feeding the crop to a rotating cylinder 19 with peripheral cutting blades 20 co-operating with a ledger blade 17 to chop the crop and impel it up a discharge shoot 24. The machine is mounted on three staggered wheels 2, 3, 13, the rearmost wheel 13 being mounted on a pivoted parallelogram structure 11, 11<SP>11</SP> which also supports bearings for the feed-roller 15 and the chopping cylinder. The cutting discs include radial knives 27 some of which have upwardly bent wing- portion which create an up-draught assisting transport of the crop. The discs are integral with drums 7 terminating upwardly in cones 8. The cutting blades 20 are helical and have integral scoops 20<SP>1</SP> to assist ejection of the cut crop.
