Abstract

1,140,157. Moulded chair form. B.P. CHEMICALS (U.K.) Ltd. 19 Feb., 1968 [7 March, 1967], No. 10570/67. Heading B5A. A rotationally moulded plastics chair form has one or more internal reinforcing bridge members 1, 2, 3, 4 integrally connecting two of its faces. The bridge members are hollow and may have a hollow extending through one face of the chair form or they may have two hollows extending from each of two faces of the chair form and meeting on either side of a partition member integrally formed across the bridge member. The chair form is moulded by supplying fluid plastics material to a rotational mould provided with one or more projections extending from one face to the opposite face of the mould corresponding to the bridge members. The mould projection may have one end out of contact with one of the mould faces or it may be integral with both faces of the mould and have a gap along its length so that a partitioned bridge member results in the chair form. Suitable plastics materials are powdered polyethylene and polypropylene, polyvinyl chloride paste, ABS and polystyrene. Blowing agents may be added.
