Abstract
1,139,121. Information storage. AMERICAN OPTICAL CO. Jan. 2, 1967 [Jan.10, 1966], No. 139/67. Heading G2C. Apparatus for making a hologran which is to be used as an information store comprises a source 12 of coherent light, preferably a laser; a beam splitter 14 for providing a reference beam A and an information carrying beam, both of which are directed to interfere at a hologran film 20; and means for angularly displacing the film 20 and the beam A relative to each other for recording the selectively readable images of a series of objects 18 on the film. A diffusion plate 16 is provided. Preferably the film 20 is rotated by a notched drum 23 which rotates in steps, the axes A, B, C, D of the reference beam relative to the film 20 being shown. A similar notched drum is used to rotate the developed hologran when information is to be retrieved therefrom Fig. 2 (not shown).
