Abstract
1,137,508. Substituted 2,8 - diazaspiro[4,5]- decan 1,3-diones. SANDOZ Ltd. 31 May, 1966 [9 June, 1965], No. 24276/66. Heading C2C. Substituted 2,8 - diazaspiro[4,5]decan - 1,3- diones of the general formula wherein R is a C 1-6 alkyl, cycloalkyl, aryl or aralkyl radical, and acid addition salts thereof, are prepared by hydrolysing a succinimide of the formula wherein R has the above significance and R<SP>1</SP> is a hydrocarbon radical, with a strong mineral acid at the boil, the resulting acid addition salt is reacted with an alkali to produce the free base when this is required, and when an acid addition salt is desired, salification is effected. Succinimides of the second general formula above are prepared by reacting the corresponding N-methyl compound with a chloroformic ester. Butyrophenones of the general formula wherein R has the above significance, are prepared by reacting compounds of the first general formula above and 4-chloro-1-(4-fluorophenyl)-butan-1-one.
