Abstract

1,137,176. Diffusion pumps. SOC. ALSACIENNE DE CONSTRUCTIONS ATOMIQUES DE TELECOMMUNICATIONS ET D'ELECTRONIQUE "ALCATEL". Oct. 26, 1966 [Oct. 27, 1965], No. 48057/66. Heading F1E. A vacuum pumping circuit comprises at least a diffusion pump 1, Fig. 1 a liquid nitrogen trap 4, a control valve 3 and inter-connecting channels the circuit being housed in a metal casing having cooling pins 10' Fig. 4 or channels and having a cylinder housing for each element. The elements are integrated in a single casing (10), Fig. 2 (not shown) which includes a boiler (11) a control (12) for valve 3, a pocket (13) for the liquid nitrogen trap, a control (14) for the valve 5, a suction flange 6, a control (16) for the by-pass valve 8 and an air inlet (17) for the air re-entry valve 7. Cavity 20 receives the diffusion pump 1, cavity 26 receives the liquid nitrogen trap 4 and cavities 32, 28 and 36 receive the valves 3, 5, 7, 8. The by-pass valve 8 enables a primary pump 2 to be used as a pre-exhausting pump. In a modification a preexhausting pump 9 can be connected to the circuit through by-pass valve 8.
