Abstract

1,136,712. Moulding tyres. NAUCHNOISSLEDOVATELSKY INSTITUT SHINNOI PROMYSHLENNOSTI, and VSESOJUZNY NAUCHNO - ISSLEDOVATELSKY INSTITUT REZINOTEKHNICHESKOGO MASHINOSTROENIA. 5 Jan., 1966, No. 454/66. Heading B4A. A tyre-moulding plant has two similar lines of equipment, each comprising a stationary device B at which moulded tyres are removed from moulds A and fresh ones supplied, and heated fluid is fed into the moulds, a stationary, tunnel-like vulcanizer C through which the moulds pass, and a stationary device D for draining the heated fluid and cooling the vulcanized tyres. The moulds are arranged in pairs, and are conveyed on a carriage 26 on rails by pushers 101 along one line of equipment, and then transferred from a heated fluid-draining device D by a carriage F mounted on rails 79 to the other line. Pushers 86 transfer the moulds from the carriage F to a device B. The vulcanized tyres are carried from the device B to a conveyer 105 by conveyers 103, 104. Each mould comprises mould halves 1, 2 interconnected by bayonet locking devices 3, 4, and including a bag or diaphragm 14 into which heating and cooling fluid is supplied via a valve 18. When a pair of moulds reaches the device B they are lowered so that their lower locking devices 4 can be unlocked by power cylinders 42. The upper bayonet connections 3 are unlocked by keys carried by members 34 supported on a transverse member 31 which is . lowered to bring the keys into contact with the mould parts, whereupon power cylinders 37 rotate the keys. During such unlocking, the upper mould parts are engaged by further keys which are extended into those parts by a power cylinder 41 on the member 31. When the mould halves are disconnected the member 31 is raised, the bag distended by a power cylinder 58 and member 57 whereby the tyres can be removed by means of an arcuate arm 66 which is vertically reciprocable and pivotal about a vertical axis. Fresh tyres are then supplied to the moulds by holders 61 which are similarly supported; the member 31 is lowered and the bags supplied with steam and hot water via pipes 54 and the mould halves interconnected. After releasing the member 31, the moulds are raised and driven through the vulcanizer C by pushers 101, with the hot water contained therewithin. They are then received on a table of the cooling and draining device D which has a vertically extending part which opens the valves 18 and supplies the bags with cold water before finally draining them. The moulds are then conveyed to the second line of equipment where the vulcanized tyres are removed by the device B and fresh unvulcanized ones supplied.
