Abstract

1,136,645. Cine projection apparatus. EASTMAN KODAK CO. Feb. 22, 1966 [Feb. 23, 1965], No. 7651/66. Heading G2E. In a cine projector for use with either of two different types of film, such as 8mm. or super 8mm., which differ as to frame size, lateral position of perforations and perforation pitch, two separate film feeding claws 20, 20' are provided which may be selectively brought into operation by control means which also change the size of the projection aperture to match the selected claw. The claw arms are mounted for vertical and pivotal motion by ball mountings in ball races on either side of post 26, the vertical or pull-down motion being provided by the engagement of followers 34, 34' with cams 32, 32' in anti-phase, and the pivotal motion being provided by the engagement followers 50, 50' with selected depressions 45 in face cam 41, as described in Specification 1,107,718. The projector is set to handle either film by slidable selector lever 70, through rotation of knob K, which acts to disengage the ends 60 or 60' of claw arms 20, 20' from their respective in- and-out follower 50, 50' by means of the buttons 79, 80 on toggle plate 76. Displacement of lever 70 pivots aperture plate 13 at 82 to bring the appropriate projection aperture 14 or 14' into operation. The framing speed for the selected claw is set by rotation of knob 120 thereby shifting the lever 55 longitudinally to move followers 50 and 50' radially of cam 41, the followers being carried by levers 54 and 55 which are inter-connected by pin 131 and slot 132. Lever 54 is guided by a slot 133 engaging cam-shaft 40 and a pin 134 on the lever engaging a slot 135 in bracket 136 of the housing. Information as to film type and direction is carried on pivoting plate 154 and viewed through windows 151, 152, and 153. Still projection is possible.
