Abstract

1,136,010. Lasers. O. DEUTSCHBEIN. 13 July, 1967 [13 July, 1966], No. 32383/67. Heading H1C. A continuous output laser comprises an active medium rod including a dopant having at least one absorption band in the near infrared range of 0À75 to 0À97Á, and a focused discharge tube pumping source filled with krypton gas. As shown in Fig. 2, the active medium 1 consists of a calcium tungstate rod doped with trivalent neodymium which is located at one focus of a right elliptical cylinder reflector 3, a krypton-filled gas discharge tube 2 energized from an A.C. source through a choke (not shown) being located at the other focus. Both active medium and pumping source are cooled by circulated water. A resonator is formed by plane external mirrors 4. Alternative active media are yttrium aluminium garnet doped with neodymium or calcium or strontium fluoride doped with trivalent dysprosium.
