Abstract

1,135,060. Electro-photographic developers. HARRIS-INTERTYPE CORP. Dec.21, 1965 [Dec. 22, 1964(2)], No.54167/65. Addition to 1,076,611. Heading G2H. Electro-photographic developers and toner concentrates comprising a dispersion in an insulating liquid of marking elements comprising an association complex of a first resin with a multiplicity of marking particles, the complex being enveloped by a second resin, as claimed in Specification 1,076,611, are characterized in that (i) the first resin contains halogen atoms, and/or (ii) the marking elements include a core material which provides a nucleating surface for the first resin and marking particles. Suitable halogenated first resins are polyvinylchloride, copoly (vinyl chloride (vinyl acetate), and chlorinated rubber, alkyds and sucrose esters; these may be plasticized, e.g. with dibutyl phthalate. Suitable core materials which preferably accelerate hardening of the resins are TiO 2 , CaCO 3 , sugar, oligosaccharides, regenerated starch and flour; these may be used with the following first resins; alkyl, vinyl and epoxy resins and butylated and isobutylated melamine and urea/formaldehyde resins.
