Abstract

1,135,004. Manipulators. H. WALISCHMILLER. 11 July, 1967 [27 Aug., 1966], No. 31782/67. Heading B4Q. To improve the range of accessibility of the tool 9 carried by the slave arm F of a manipulator having a master arm ST, the slave and master arms being articulated to a tube 3 and having upper and lower arms 7, 8 and 4, 5, the master arm may be moved about its articulation point G towards the hot cell wall 1 so that it takes up the position shown in chain-line in Fig. 1 above the horizontal. This chain-line position is situated in a space provided below a depending portion 10 of the manipulator tube 3. The master arm is shorter than the slave arm. In another embodiment, Fig. 2, the tube 3 has a chamber 18 open at the bottom to receive the master arm ST when the upper arm 4 is positioned above the horizontal.
