Abstract

113,469. St. Armande, A. V. Feb. 17, 1917. Drawings to Specification. Cases.-In a battery comprising a number of cells placed end to end, the cells are held in contact by a covering of celluloid or similar substance prepared from cellulose acetate or nitrocellulose. A sheet of the substance is wrapped round the cells and moistened with a softening agent such as acetone or amyl acetate. As the sheet dries, it shrinks and adheres to the cells. The sheet may be first heated and a solvent or adhesive applied to the overlapping ends, or the usual wrapper which surrounds the cells may be coated with a solution of cellulose acetate or nitrocellulose which, on drying, causes the wrapper to shrink.
