Abstract
1,133,457. Aminoalkylindane derivatives. SANDOZ Ltd. 23 Dec., 1965 [1 Feb., 1965; 14 May, 1965; 20 May, 1965; 22 Sept., 1965 (2); 5 Oct., 1965], No. 54582/65. Heading C2C. Novel compounds of general formula and acid addition salts thereof, wherein R 1 is H or methyl, R 2 is H, OH or methoxy, A is a direct bond or a methylene radical and one of R 3 or R 5 with R 4 completes an indane ring with the benzene nucleus while the other is H, are prepared by reduction of the amides of formula Amides of the last formula above are prepared by reacting an amine of Formula II with a reactive derivative of 3,3-diphenylpropionic acid. The amines of Formula II are prepared by reduction of the oximes or nitrovinyl compounds formed by reaction of an appropriate formylindane or alkanoylindane with hydroxylamine or nitromethane. Pharmaceutical compositions in conventional forms for oral and parenteral administration comprise an above novel compound or a salt thereof and a carrier therefor. The compositions have a blood pressure lowering effect and produce coronary dilation and vasodilation.
